Enjoy the very best of Maharashtra and central India through the Deccan Odyssey luxury train. This luxurious railway trip will take you through eight days packed with royalty, wildlife, heritage, and exquisite cuisine.
The rail adventure starts from the bustling city of Mumbai and will then take you to Aurangabad, known for its World Heritage Sites Ellora and Ajanta Caves. You will be taken around the majestic Daulatabad Fort before going on safari in Pench National Park and Tadoba Tiger Reserve. The tour concludes by ending in Nashik, which is renowned as the “wine capital of India,” with a wine tasting experience at a private vineyard.
During the tour, you will get to experience a variety of elegantly appointed cabins, top-notch services, and more as you ride around India in style on a luxury train.
After arriving in Mumbai, meet at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus between 4:00 and 4:30 pm. There will be a typical Indian welcoming ceremony for you with garlands and a ritual tilak on the forehead. Once all the registration procedures are completed, retire to your comfortable cabin, as the Deccan Odyssey makes its way to Aurangabad.
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast on board in Aurangabad. You can spend the day at leisure on the train or have an optional treatment at the spa in the city. Have your lunch and go to see the Ellora caves, which is a UNESCO world heritage site famous for the rock-cut temples representing Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
Move on to visit the Daulatabad fort, which is famous for its impressive architectural structure built on top of a hill. Return to the train, get refreshed and then go back to the city for dinner. Sleep overnight in the Deccan Odyssey.
A delicious breakfast is followed by an exploration of the cultural monuments of Aurangabad. One may visit Bibi-ka-Maqbara, known as the “Taj of the Deccan,” which is dedicated to Dilras Banu Begum, wife of the emperor Aurangzeb.
One may then visit the traditional textile-weaving area renowned for the manufacture of Himroo silk. The train ride back to the hotel in the evening can be enjoyed in the bar and lounge car. Dinner on board and overnight stay en route to Ramtek.
Get ready for your first safari in Pench National Park, which is renowned for being one of the best places in India to spot tigers. You can expect to encounter tigers, leopards, wild dogs, deer, gaur, and more than 285 bird species at this national park.
Following that, return back to the train for brunch. Spend the afternoon enjoying the rest of the journey by train, after which you will make your way to Tadoba.
Arrive at Chandrapur and take a morning safari tour in the Tadoba National Park & Tiger Reserve, which is known as the “Jewel of Vidarbha.” This tiger reserve is famous for having healthy tigers, sloth bears, leopards, several species of deer, and a wide variety of birds.
After the safari, you will have your breakfast and lunch at the wildlife resort, enjoying the calm environment. Re-board the train in the afternoon for an overnight journey to Jalgaon, spending the evening hours free, with some cocktails and dinner on board the train.
Visit Jalgaon and explore the popular UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ajanta Caves, known for their ancient Buddhist cave paintings, sculptures, and rock cut architecture.
Get back on the train for lunch while it moves on to Nashik. Free time will be available on the train to relax in the spa lounge, play games, and enjoy other entertainment offered on board. Overnight stay on the Deccan Odyssey.
And today, our train reaches Nashik, known as the city of wine in India. Breakfast is followed by a stroll down the riverbanks of Godavari Ghats where you can observe local rituals and culture. After exploring the vibrant markets of Nashik, we will head to an established vineyard. Get a tour and learn about grape farming and sparkling wine manufacturing. You will get to taste white, red, pink, and sparkling wines. Our train will leave for Mumbai post-lunch. Spend a leisurely evening aboard the train.
The Deccan Odyssey returns to Mumbai in the early hours of the morning. Once you finish your breakfast, do the final procedures for check-out and leave the train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station.
